Here is Pete Marczyk, with gratitude:

“We opened in Uptown in 2002, just 7 months after 9/11–we had to stall

construction due to the financial uncertainty, and I wasn’t sure we could re-start.

When we turned the key that first day to let our eager customers in, I thought

“Wow, THAT was a lot of work!” Little did I know that the real work had just

begun!

Now, after 23 years, my overwhelming emotion is gratitude. Our defining

difference has always been our team. All I can say - as absolutely sincerely as I

can - when I reflect on nearly a quarter century of selling the finest foods available

is “thank you.”

Thank you to the farmers, producers, packers, truckers, and all our other supply-

side partners that get everything to our stores. From the fields and factories, across

the country (come hell or high water) to our back doors.

Thank you to our Friends and Family shoppers, who sustain our mission and

business with every purchase they make at our locally owned and operated

businesses. We know you have many choices for grocery shopping in Denver,

thanks for sticking with the local shop! You make it possible to hire great people,

and support them with benefits that are central to our mission. Money spent here in

Denver stays in Denver.

Thank you to our wine shop neighbors, Fairfax Wine & Spirits and Marczyk Fine

Wines, who keep us stocked with The Best Wines You’ve Never Heard Of, and

make our stores a 1 stop shop.

And most especially thank you to our work-family of dedicated food professionals

who check for cracked eggs, tape the soup lids, stock the produce, cut the meat,

fillet the fish, set the cases, face the shelves, make the sandwiches, cut the cheese

(you really didn’t see that coming?), rotate the dairy, carry the bags, mop the

floors, chase the thieves, wash the windows, set up the tables, open the doors and

say “welcome to Marczyk’s!”. Whew, and that’s just in the stores!

At the Marczyk Culinary Center and offices, thank you to this team who write

emails, count beans, train staff, plan events, write schedules, take the hard calls,

wrap the cheese, make mozz, make MORE sandwiches for the airport, manage the

logistics, stir the pots, roll the dough, develop the systems, drive the trucks, order

everything, from turkeys to t-shirts, pull all-nighters, fight with distributors, and

keep it all organized, all these years. Thank you thank you thank you.

Because of our rock steady customers and crew, we won’t forget what we came to

do 23 years ago: to enrich people’s lives through food. Good, simple, delicious,

carefully sourced, enthusiastically displayed… food.

Marczyk’s, our 2 little corner grocery stores, were, and are, part of the “where

does my food come from” revolution, and we’re extremely proud of that fact.
