Sono Montenidoli Extra Virgin Olive Oil

From the hills surrounding San Gimignano in Tuscany comes Sono Montenidoli, an olive oil rooted in centuries of tradition. Produced on a historic estate where olive trees have grown since Etruscan times (top photo is one of those trees!), this oil is made with a careful, hands-on approach—organic farming, hand-harvesting, and immediate pressing to preserve its character and freshness.

At the heart of Montenidoli is Elisabetta Fagiuoli, described as the “soul of Tuscany”—a tireless, hands-on producer whose energy and vision helped elevate the reputation of her region. One of the most respected and distinctive figures in Tuscan agriculture. She and her partner, Sergio Muratori, arrived in the hills of San Gimignano in 1965—not to make wine or olive oil, but to create a refuge for children. What they found instead was a 200-hectare abandoned estate, with overgrown olive groves and neglected vineyards.

They chose to bring the land back to life. Slowly, by hand, they restored the groves, revived the soil, and built a working farm rooted in respect for nature and traditional methods.

What sets this oil apart is its intensity. Bright, green, and deeply expressive, it carries notes of fresh-cut grass and artichoke, with a smooth texture and a gentle peppery finish. It’s the kind of olive oil that doesn’t sit quietly in the background—it elevates everything it touches.

Marilena Barbera “Sikele” Extra Virgin Olive Oil

From the sunlit coast of southwest Sicily, Marilena Barbera’s Sikele Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a vivid expression of both place and producer. Made from Nocellara del Belìce olives, one of Sicily’s most celebrated varieties, the oil is hand-harvested and cold-pressed immediately to capture its full freshness and character.

Barbera, a second-generation farmer based in Menfi, has shaped her family’s estate into a model of organic, sustainable agriculture, working in harmony with the land rather than against it. Her approach is thoughtful and hands-on, focused on small-scale production and letting the natural qualities of the olives shine through.

The result is an oil that feels alive—bright green, aromatic, and layered with notes of green tomato, artichoke, citrus, and almond, finishing with a gentle bitterness and peppery lift.
